Mudras is the gateway to your inner being. Mudras are effective and easy
to do. The amazing thing is that until now mudras have not been widely
taught. There are actually many hand gestures of mudras. However the
basic mudras are for common meditations. Mudras date back to thousands
of years ago. Many of the hand gestures are universal. It is thought that
mudras was used over five thousand years ago by priests and were used
in prayer rituals and were key to communicating with there gods and
producing miracles. The egyptians even carved the sacred gestures on the
walls of the pyramids.

However in India they called the hand gestures "Mudras". Mudras are a very
important part of yoga and designed to connect the person to the devine 
and cosmic energy. Mudras are also used in Buddhism and Hinduism.
There are also Bharatanatyam mudras.
